iMDB: The Walking Dead cast 2019 Comic Con interview
This is my final season on the show, it is. Painfully so. So it was a very emotional panel for me, sharing that, sharing that with my family, you know. The fans who’ve loved us all for so many seasons, and you know I’ve just grown so much, and become such a lover of these people, of this world. And it was a very emotional day, but it was beautiful.
TV Line: And the way Danai responded to a question about the possibility of joining Andrew Lincoln in his Rickcentric movies should give us all hope that we haven’t seen her wield a katana for the last time.

Danai Gurira receives a standing ovation – San Diego Comic Con (2019)
I can confirm that this is the last season I will be on this amazing tv show as Michonne. I would just like to say that this has been one of the purest joys of my life… to play this role, and to be amongst these people, and those that are not here right now, and amongst all of you… I’m very, very thankful for the experience that I’ve had, in ways I can’t even express right now. But I will say my heart does not leave in any way, shape, or form. The beauty of this show is that TWD family is forever. The first time I came here in 2012 I felt this energy, and it doesn’t ever end. The connection between us never ends, and that’s what keeps me going with the decision I made. It was a very difficult one. And it’s not connected to my heart. My heart stays right here. It was about my calling, in a sense, and other things I feel called to. All I’m filled with is a lot of pain about leaving, and a lot of gratitude and thanks to all of you. I love you guys. I love this show. TWD family is forever. Thank you so much. Thank you all. – DG
